The Administrative Division is comprised of Accounting
and Reception. Accounting supports Public Works, while
the Reception department is dedicated to providing excellent
customer service to the citizens of Skagit County.

Engineering is responsible for establishing, examining,
surveying, constructing, and improving the county road
system within Skagit County. The Division generally
focuses on road construction, transportation planning,
pavement preservation, traffic safety and signage, as
well as managing a wide array of project funding sources
and their associated administrative requirements.

Equipment Division |

The Equipment Division is dedicated to providing a
reliable and cost effective county fleet and to maintaining
a competitive inventory of various road maintenance
materials and shop items. The Equipment Division owns
and maintains the fleet, which includes road maintenance
machinery, trucks, cars, trailers and a variety of other
equipment.

The Natural Resources Division of Skagit County Public Works is comprised of two Sections: Surface Water and Water Resources. A highly trained staff manages a number of programs to provide clean water, effective drainage, flood damage reduction and restoration. Partnering with dike and drainage districts, tribes, state and federal agencies, Skagit Conservation District and local non-profit agencies, Skagit County effectively leverages local funding sources and resources for maximum efficiency and results.

The county is portioned into three districts: District

Solid Waste Division |

Solid Waste provides municipal and household solid waste
disposal for the citizens of Skagit County. This is accomplished
in accordance with applicable laws and permits as described
by the Board of Skagit County Commissioners.
Solid waste or garbage is hauled by rail to Roosevelt Regional
Landfill in Klickitat County, Washington. Recycled materials
which are collected separately at three sites are transported
to a variety of local companies for further processing. Household
Hazardous Waste and moderate risk waste (from local businesses)
is collected at the Skagit County Recycling and Transfer Station
Collection Facility where it is packed and shipped for recycling
or storage in a hazardous waste landfill.
